Cincinnati, OH — The Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce (AACC) received the Research Impact Award from the University of Cincinnati’s Alpaugh Family Economics Center at its annual awards event on April 23rd. This award honors the top research project at the university.

The annual awards ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate local students, educators, community leaders, and organizations for their commitment to financial education and economic research.

The AACC  engaged with the Alpaugh Family Economics Center in a multi-year research project to measure the economic impact of Black-owned businesses in our region. The findings of the latest study, released in July 2024, showed that overall, Black-owned businesses generated more than $2.8 billion in  economic impact, directly and indirectly supporting 16,472 jobs with $635.1 million in total earnings.
